Prego belly

I keep getting hounded about a prego photo so here it is. Reagan took it so it's crooked, but it works. We have a date set for the C section....it'll be Jan. 20th unless the stinkers decide to make an early appearance on their own. I'm excited to have a date set. I'm at 36 weeks currently and both seem to be growing, which is encouraging. Last Tues. the boy weighed 5lbs 5oz and the girl weighed 4lbs 10 oz, which was exciting news. These are estimates but I'm confident they'll both be in the 5lb ballpark when they are born. Baby B (the boy) gave us a scare on Tues at the appointment which turned my 1 hour apt. into 3 1/2 hours, an ultrasound, non stress test, and a bio life test of every movement they make for a half hour concluded that he must have been lying on his cord which was making his heart race then plunge. I've nicknamed them the tortoise and the hare. She's the tortoise, goes at her own pace, nothing to exciting, but gets things done in the end. He, the hare, either gets things done quickly then does nothing or procrastinates then puts forth effort right before the deadline. He's extreme, she sticks in the mid range and is content. Oh won't this be an interesting adventure!!!

Fun at the water park

My sister and her kids stayed the night at a hotel just 20 min from us that has a fun water park in it. Scott was out of town so we drove to the hotel after school last Thursday to play and have dinner. The kids had a great time on the slides and playing in the water. The water was super shallow, only 2-5 inches so Amanda and I got to just sit on the side of the pool and watch, which was great!!! They all had a great time. Unfortunately later that night my sister's kids both got sick so she made an early dash for home before things got too crazy. Luckily none of us had any sickness!! We'll definitely be meeting up there again in the next few months.

More Christmas pics

Here are the kids making almond bark covered pretzels.
Brett got a spiderman mask and is showing off his web making abilities.
Here's Scott on Christmas morning showing the books I got him. I think he might have actually finished one already!!

The computer is back in business so I'm finally able to update with photos. Scott, his Dad and the kids made popcorn balls on Thanksgiving weekend. This has become a Schmitz tradition that the kids really enjoy.
Reagan and Brett each had parties at school. Reagan enjoyed traveling from one craft station to another making fun holiday items. Brett and his classmates decorated gingerbread houses. Both parties were on the same day but Mom managed to help at both...I'm sure I napped that day afterwards!!!
Here are a couple of pics from Christmas morning. It was nice to be in our own house for Christmas. We went to church on Christmas eve and they had a candle light service which the kid's thought was awesome. We came home and made dinner and ate to candle light just like Scott did as a boy. We let the kids open two gifts that night as well which helped cut down on the chaos on Christmas morning.

Dec. Update

It's been a while....sorry. Scott was out of town for a couple of weeks and naturally the computer broke and is still broken as I type on the laptop. I'll be making a call to the Geek Squad on Monday.
I'm 33 weeks prego now and am starting to feel ultra pregnant. I'm going to the Dr. weekly now and having non stress tests each time to be sure both babes are active. The Dr. was getting a bit concerned after my last ultrasound that the girl isn't growing enough. She did fine at last weeks NST...not as active as her brother, but still passed the test so we're good for another week. I go again on Dec. 24. We'll do this until we deliver. My next ultra sound will be in 2 1/2 weeks. I'm anxious to see what they'll weigh then. Two weeks ago A (girl) was 2lbs 13 oz and B (Boy)was 3lbs 4 oz. No matter how miserable I start to become I really don't want long hospital stays for either of them so we're hoping they stay in there and cook for as long as possible.
We're gearing up for Christmas. I shopped and wrapped early which was good as I'm out of energy. We'll do Christmas morning at our house together as a family then will travel to Story City/Roland for my side, then Scott's in the evening.
Not much else happening here. Just hoping the weather doesn't put a damper on things or on our help coming from out of town when the babies are born. I'll put those worries aside for another day. Yikes.

Marine Corps Ball 2008

We attended the Marine Corps ball on Nov. 8 in DesMoines. The event itself was fine, but I wasn't feeling the greatest so we were the old couple that retired early that evening. I went to a regular doctor's appt. on the following Monday to find that both babies had flipped and were now breech....which explains why I was feeling like I was feeling at the ball. At least I wasn't imagining things!! Stinkers. I am having a c section so their position isn't as important but their "road trip" if you will wasn't at all pleasant for me. Yet another reminder that I'm not in control!! Due to my lack of excitement there are very few pictures from that night.....such is life.

Halloween, etc.

I'm a bit behind, but here are the pics from Trick or Treat night. The kids decided to match...I'm sure it'll never happen again, but Superman and Super girl it was. To complete our super hero troop Buddy was Batman/dog. As you can tell from the picture he wasn't at all too please to be partaking in the festivities. The kids enjoyed walking the neighborhood collecting goodies. They like carving pumpkins too. Brett wasn't at all interested in using his hands to remove the goop and seeds....no big surprise for me......he wouldn't finger paint at preschool either. If only he were as concerned about his room not being dirty!!
Included is a picture of Brett holding their new cousin, Zhara. Both kids just love to hold her and help feed her. They are pretty much baby hogs when she's around. I'm just hoping the excitement of a baby only multiplies come January!!! As you may see in the picture Brett has a nice scrape on his nose/face. He had a meeting with the neighbor's driveway...and lost....I had just told him to stop hopping and jumping around like a nut, sure enough seconds later came the scream heard across the earth. Boys....I tell you!!
One picture is of the kid's with their cousins, Jana and Tyler on a tractor ride. We visited a pumpkin/fun farm. It was a good time...minus the cat crap my kids sat in on a hay bail and the strange llama encounter I had. Have you really ever looked at one of those things in the face....I don't advise it....they are a bit scary...and yes, they do spit!
Another picture is of Reagan at gymnastics. They had camera day so Mom's got to go in and take pictures during their workout. She really is enjoying learning the moves. I love that she loves it...I feel it's a good confidence booster for any kid. Brett is super jealous that Rea gets to go and he doesn't but rules are rules and I didn't win the lotto so he has to wait until next year.
As for the babes we are doing well. I'm 28 weeks along now and one twin weighs just under 2 lbs and the other just over. They are a tad small, but with twins I guess that is normal. I'm having a fear that they'll decide to arrive early so am trying to get things together for Christmas so I don't have to worry about that should they come early. Also, the more prego I become I probably won't be a very nice shopper so I guess it's a favor to all other humans as well!
